The Camera

- The "camera obscura" affect was inside a dark room a tiny hole was made in one wall. Through the  hole light is focused, and the outside scene is projected upside down on the other wall. This was the first camera, the hole was the lens, focusing and projecting light onto the wall.
-During the 17th century Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens perfected their understanding of optics and how to make high quality glass lenses.
-The parts of the first modern camera were film, a glass lens, and dark box.the film was made in 1827 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce.
-Modern digital cameras and Niépce's camera have the "camera obscura" process in common. Light passes through the lens into the camera and exposes the film. Resulting in a still photo.
-Digtial cameras use digital film to capture a photograph. This is cheeper, easer to use and better for the environment.
-The difference between auto mode and program mode is auto mode will control the flash and exposure. With program mode you can control the flash among other settings.
-Portrait mode is used for picture of people and group pictures. It works by blurring out the background, also the camera will use the fastest lens setting.
-Sports mode is used for taking action shots, by using the highest shutter speed possible so that it can freeze motion.
-You should do the half press on the camera button because if you press it to hard you could shake the camera.
-The symbol with the lighting and the line through it is used when you don't want to use flash.
-The symbol with the lighting flash and the word auto next to it means that the camera will use flash automatically if it thinks that you need it.
-If there is too much light in your photo it will cause it to look washed out and you won't be able to see your picture.
-If there is not enough light in your photo then it will be too dark and you won't be able to see the picture you took.
- A stop is the level of light that you are using.
- If there are two sound instead of one it will be one stop brighter.
-If there are four suns instead of two suns it will be three suns lighter.
-The longer the shutter speed the more light will be in the picture.
-The shorter the shutter speed the less light will be in the picture.
-The aperture controls the amount to light that will be let into the photo.
-You can increase the amount of light in a picture by opening the aperture wider. This lets more light in the photo.
